Neurosky

I thought that this was a pretty interesting display of how far technology has come. Neurosky is a on-invasive, dry, bio-sensor, that uses capture the electrical waves generated by neurological activity and eye movements to translate mental state information into digital signals for simple Brain-Computer Interface. In simple terms it lets you control a computer with your mind. Unfortunately the interface is still somewhat primitive, incomplete, and control is fairly limited. However the technology is still very impressive, and I have to say that I am excited about it.

The site for neurosky is located at www.neurosky.com, take a look.

Eye Candy

OK I thought that this was really weird. It's called eye candy, it transmites signals through your tongue into your brain on the same frequency enabling you to see what you taste. It apparently only comes in six flavors but that's still more then I would expect. I still think it's a little strange but you cal take a look for yourself, the site is www.eyecandycan.com.

Touchscreens

Touchscreens are already becoming very popular in today's world, and has already seen use in numerous products such as apple's I phone, the Nintendo DS, and even smartboards. Contrary to the fact that it seems to be emerging only recently on the market they have actually been in existence since the 1980s. They were however, until recently, used primarilty for educational purposes, their current use in game and entertainment systems began only recently when miniaturization of the design was possible.

I personally would like to see more use of touchscreens in more commercial products especially laptops, stationary computers, television sets, and game consoles. This could even enable the keyboard and monitor to be combined into a single component, though this would be difficult to do without obscuring part of the screens.

Modern Technology intro

This blog will be used to state and discuss new and hypothetical technological advances that I find interesting and worthy of mention. It will be geared more towards dealing with this information in both an technical and discussion based manner. I hope that any readers of this blog will find it both enlightening and interesting.
